Obituary for Charles Edward McCarroll

Charles Edward (Ed) McCarroll of Cherokee Village, age 90, passed away August 31, 2019, at EagleCrest Nursing &Rehab in Ash Flat, AR. He was born to the late Clarence and Dora Ballard McCarroll on April 12, 1929 at Paragould, AR. He was a pharmacist assistant for many years in Malden, MO, and a realtor for 10 years in Bentonville, AR, retiring from there to live in Pocahontas, AR, for another 10 years then moving to Cherokee Village. He was an avid golfer from an early age, learning to play at Fox Hills Country Club, Paragould, AR, along with his older brother, Lawrence, who also loved the game. They were joint owners of only one set of clubs between them in those early years, one taking the even numbers, the other taking the odd numbers. It always pleased him to help others who wanted to learn to play the game. Whether a participant or spectator, he was a big sports fan, an outstanding kicker for his high school football team, playing basketball and baseball as well, coaching little league teams as his sons came of age. He was a long-time Chicago Cubs baseball fan, even during their long drought of losing years. He showed the same loyalty to the AR Razorbacks!

Family was an important priority of his. His younger sister, Dorothy, speaks of how often he would take her with him roller skating and doing other things she wanted to do. His interest in roller skating led him to open his own portable skating rink business, taking his young family with him for several years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Drake McCarroll; sons, Ed McCarroll, Jr., of Bentonville, AR; Scott McCarroll of Fayetteville, AR; daughters, Patti Snodgrass with husband Larry of Lincoln, AR; and Cindy Lindsey, with husband, Jim, of Bentonville, AR; sister Dorothy and husband George Lee of Abilene, TX; sister-in-law, Lee Douglas of Bella Vista, AR; stepson, Kevin Knauts of Little Rock, AR. Also 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 step grandsons, & 3 step great-grandchildren, step-daughter-in-law, Crissy Knauts of Rogers, AR.

Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer McCarroll of North Little Rock, AR, and Lawrence McCarroll of Bella Vista, AR; sister, Marie (Mary) Croft; stepson, Kurt Knauts of Rogers, AR; and his parents.

His funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Church, CherokeeVillage, AR, Thursday, September 5 at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift of Gideon Bible(s) in his memory at or the charity of your choice. You may want to visit our Tribute Store.
