Obituary for Floy Doris Clark

Floy Margaret “Doris” Clark of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, passed this life on Christmas Day after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Floy was born in Greenbrier, AR on July 2, 1927, to James Frank and Hattie P. Olive Riggs. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harlon Riggs, Franklin Riggs, and Carl Gregory, her son, Clifford Eugene Gander and her husband Miles M. Clark.

Doris was a people person and loved taking care of her family and friends. Most who knew her, knew she was a wonderful cook and loved feeding those who came to her home. Doris and her first husband, Eugene Gander, owned Gander’s Grocery in Paragould, AR in the early 1960’s. She had her own beauty shop next Gander’s grocery and took pride in giving beauty tips. She also owned a Gander’s Grocery and Café in Light, AR in the mid 1960’s.

Those left to cherish her memory are a host of family and friends. Survivors are: the mother of her grandchildren, whom she considered her daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Lenderman of Paragould, AR. Her grandchildren Marvin Gander of Paragould, Lana (Benji) Rodgers of Cherokee Village, AR, and Mitchell (Lana) Gander of Beech Grove, AR. Great grandchildren, Autumn (Brian) Hicks of Paragould, Brittani (Scot) Durand of Sterlington, LA, Brigette (Caleb) Elkins, Hot Springs, AR, Andrew (Melissa) Gander of Paragould, Ben (Paige) Gander of Beech Grove, and Will Gander of Beech Grove. Great great grandchildren Eli and Kason Irvin, Christian Wagner, Carter Hicks, Tucker Lamkin, and Grace Elkins.

A special niece, Kathy Riggs Altom. Special thanks for the loving care that Jessie and Carrie with Legacy Hospice provided during the past year. A celebration of life will be held at the Ash Flat church of Christ, Sun. Dec. 30 at 2:00. A private family burial will be at a later date at the Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Children’s Homes, Inc., Paragould, AR.
